A police standoff that lasted several hours on Tuesday in Kansas City, Kansas has ended.
The U.S. Marshals were originally on the scene to serve a search warrant at the home located at 5701 Parallel Parkway.
According to KCK police, the warrants involved a parole violation for 56-year-old Gregory Andrews for aggravated indecent liberties with a Minor and failure to register as a sex offender.
A look into Gregory and Renee Andrews:
Gregory Andrews is 56-years-old . U.S. Marshals were trying to serve two arrest warrants to him. One for a parole violation for aggravated indecent liberties with a minor -- who was 15 years old. The second for failure to register as a sex offender.
He was charged in 2009 and convicted in 2012.
In 2013, he was booked into the Wyandotte County jail for a parole violation and released the following day.
Neighbors tell 41 Action News, he is a gospel music artist.
He lives in the house with this wife Renee Andrews, IMBD page, she appeared on Walker Texas Ranger and the Mighty Morphin Power Rangers in the early 90s.
Officials say the occupants resisted and indicated they were armed; that's when U.S. Marshals called KCK police to assist.
Local police said the person being sought refused to come out of the house and made threats to officers.
"I'm not coming out. I have my wife and son here," said one of the occupants. "They're going to have to kick in my door and take us all," he later said.
Around 9 a.m. an occupant called our station and complained about the standoff.
Officials say that for several hours, officers attempted to have an open dialogue with the individual and even attempted non-forceful tactics to have them exit the home.
Around 2 p.m. commanders on the scene decided that the severity of the warrants did not outweigh the possibility of injuring the residents or the public.
Officers deescalated the the situation and withdrew from the scene.
The warrants for the individual are still active.
