KANSAS CITY, Mo. — One driver was taken to the hospital in critical condition after a crash on eastbound Interstate 70 at Jackson Avenue.
The Kansas City, Missouri, Police Department said a gray Toyota Camry was driving at a high rate of speed on I-70 when it went off the roadway into an active construction area.
The vehicle hit a mound of dirt, went airborne and overturned, ejecting the driver, who was not wearing a seat belt.
The driver sustained life-threatening injuries and is in critical condition, per KCPD.
Two lanes of eastbound I-70 at Jackson Avenue were closed for about two hours.
Police said no construction workers or equipment were impacted during the crash.
A crash investigation is ongoing.
