KANSAS CITY, Mo. — A man is accused of kidnapping and sexually assaulting a woman before an hours-long standoff Monday with Grandview Police.

Clinton Everhart, 46, of Grandview, Missouri, faces two counts of first-degree sodomy or attempted sodomy, kidnapping and unlawful possession of a firearm, according to a news release from the Jackson County Prosecutor's Office.

Court documents state that the victim told detectives she was in a car with Everhart and two others Monday morning in Kansas City, Missouri.

The victim said she saw Everhart shoot a man in the car and watched as the victim was pushed out of the car, the court documents state. Everhart and a man in the car threw the woman to the floorboard of the car and tied her up with zip ties.

The documents state that Everhart dropped the other man at a residence in Independence and took the woman to a house in Grandview, then cut the zip ties off the woman and took her into the house.

The victim told police Everhart also took two guns into the house, including the one used in the earlier shooting.

Everhart injected the woman with drugs, tied her up and attacked her, the documents state. Everhart fell asleep and the woman took the gun used in the shooting and fled from the house, according to court documents.

She reached a relative on social media and police were sent to the house just after 9 a.m.

Just over two hours into the standoff, two men and a woman came out of the house.

Everhart did not respond when police tried to talk to him.

Grandview officers issued a search warrant and found Everhart hiding with a rifle in a crawl space.

The documents state police were able to confirm the information about the shooting and noted the red marks on her wrists from being bound.

Police found drugs, guns, zip ties and pieces of rope during a search of the house.

Clinton is a convicted felon.
