Independence police investigating Monday shooting that left 1 dead

KANSAS CITY, Mo. — The Independence Police Department is investigating a shooting that left one person dead on Monday.

Police said the shooting occurred in the 3300 block of Cedar Avenue.

The victim was then transported to a QuikTrip at U.S. 40 Highway and Sterling Avenue.

After emergency personnel were contacted at the QuikTrip, an ambulance sent the victim to a local hospital.

The victim was later pronounced dead at the hospital.

No suspect information is available at this time.
