2 Kansas City men charged in Blue Springs homicide

KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Two Kansas City, Missouri, men face charges in a shooting that left 46-year-old Gregory B. Marchand dead on Friday.

Zaylen Z. Smith, 21, faces second-degree murder and armed criminal action charges, while Donavan M. Jordan, who also was involved in the incident, is charged with unlawful use of a weapon and fleeing from law enforcement.

Officers responded to a call on the 700 Block of Northwest Missouri 7 on Friday, where they found Marchand suffering from a gun shot wound. Court documents state that Smith, Jordan and Marchand were meeting for a marijuana deal at the time of the shooting.

Jordan and Smith were arrested at different locations in South Kansas City, Missouri, Friday, following a police chase.

The court documents stated that a firearm was found in the vehicle after it crashed.

Police said they're seeking a third person in connection to the case.
