Man charged in fatal September 2015 crash

A Kansas City man faces felony charges in connection with a September 2015 crash on U.S. 71 Highway that killed one person and injured two others, Jackson County Prosecutor Jean Peters Baker announced Monday.

Juron Morris, 31, faces first-degree involuntary manslaughter, two counts of second-degree assault and driving while license was suspended/revoked.

According to court records, Kansas City, Mo., police were dispatched to 59th Street and U.S. 71 Highway on Sept. 12, 2015, on an injury crash. Two passengers told police Morris was driving the vehicle, one saying he reached speeds between 80 and 100 mph. Court records state passengers said Morris lost control of the vehicle and it flipped and everyone was ejected.

The news release from the Jackson County Prosecutor’s Office states one passenger died from his injuries and two others were injured.

Prosecutors have requested a bond of $150,000.
