KANSAS CITY, Mo. – A 28-year-old man was charged Wednesday in connection with a fatal shooting at 21st Street and Wheeling Avenue last month, according to the Jackson County Prosecutor’s Office.

Skylar Williams, of Kansas City, Missouri, was arrested on counts of second-degree murder and armed criminal action.

The shooting occurred on Sept. 27 in the 2100 block of Wheeling Avenue. Police found the victim, 23-year-old Dominique Walker, shot to death in a parking lot. Several spent shell casings were found nearby, according to court records.

Surveillance video captured the shooting and at least two suspects, who allegedly fled the scene in a white Mercury Mountaineer. License plate information on the vehicle was linked to Williams, according to records.

Police later found the vehicle at a residence in Kansas City, Kansas. After obtaining a search warrant, police found a gun inside the residence that matched the spent casings at the scene, court records said.

Williams allegedly admitted to being at the scene of the shooting, but did not say who else was involved.

He is currently in custody in KCK. Prosecutors requested a bond of $250,000.
