KANSAS CITY, Mo. — A Kansas City, Missouri, man has been charged in connection to a February shooting that left one man dead and a woman injured.

Keaire L. Martin, 38, faces one count of second-degree murder and two counts of armed criminal action and unlawful possession of a firearm.

Officers responded just before 3 p.m. Thursday to the 8100 block of Lydia Avenue on a reported shooting. Upon entering the residence, they located a deceased male victim, identified as 39-year-old Dionte Harris, and a female, who has not been identified, in critical condition suffering from gunshot wounds.

A witness told police that Martin was heard arguing with the two individuals in the basement prior to the sound of gunshots, according to a probable cause statement.

Martin was arrested on Friday in the 3100 block of Hardesty Avenue, where a woman at the residence told police that Martin said he “killed someone and it was because they owed him money,” the documents state.

Prosecutors requested a $400,000 bond.
