Kansas City police are investigating the shooting death of 20-year-old Kameron Gay as a homicide.
Gay was found shot at Harrison and Armour this week.
Friends, family, clergy, community leaders and local police also chose to come together for comfort and advocate for change.
"This is time for the grown people to wake up. We need to reach out to these kids instead of condemning them all the time," said Erika Caldwell, mother of Kameron Gay. "We need to reach out our hands to them sometimes."
Gay's homicide is the 69th in Kansas City, Mo., this year.
