KANSAS CITY, Mo. — A Kansas City, Kansas man is facing charges in connection with a woman's shooting death and the beating of another person.

Gari A. Mansaw, 24, is charged with second-degree murder, first-degree assault and two counts of armed criminal action.

Prosecutors say Mansaw killed Stephanie C. Davis near 9th and Chestnut on June 30. Court records also say a second victim claims Mansaw beat him with a brick.

According to court records, Davis and the second victim went to 9th and Chestnut to meet with Mansaw. Phone records also indicate that Davis had been in frequent contact with a number associated with Mansaw.

Cameras also reportedly captured a vehicle registered to Mansaw in the area at the time.

The second victim told police that he believed Davis owed Mansaw money.

When police arrived at the scene, they found the second victim in the street and Davis dead in the passenger seat of a vehicle nearby.

Mansaw was taken into custody Wednesday.

Prosecutors have requested a $250,000 bond.
