KANSAS CITY, Mo. — The man who was shot in the parking of a Kansas City, Kansas, motel Wednesday night has died.

KCK police confirmed Friday that Sharnia Robinson, 42, of Overland Park, died at the hospital after being shot around 6:20 p.m. on Wednesday in the parking lot of a motel in the 4700 block of State Avenue.

The suspected shooter, Matthew R. Walker, allegedly forced a woman to drive him from the scene.

The woman was found safe Thursday, and KCKPD announced that Walker was arrested later that day without incident.

Walker was jailed at the Wyandotte County Detention Center on one count each of aggravated battery and aggravated kidnapping along with a probation violation after his arrest.

The battery charge against Walker was upgraded Friday to second-degree murder. He also now faces charges of aggravated kidnapping and aggravated intimidation of a witness or victim.
