KCPD: 1 person killed in shooting at Northland home

KANSAS CITY, Mo. — One man was shot and killed shortly before 10 p.m. on Friday in the Northland.

Kansas City, Missouri, police responded to a reported shooting in the 5300 block of Northeast 57th Street, where a victim was found deceased in a home.

Police on Monday identified the victim as Tyler Genson, 22, of KCMO.

Roommates and other witnesses were present and told police “that a suspect or suspects approached the house and fired shots into the house,” according to a statement from KCPD.

One of the roommates suffered an undisclosed injury but refused medical treatment.

This is the second homicide in as many weeks in the Northland.

Stan Butler, 61, was shot and killed April 30 at a Northland apartment complex.
