KCPD: 1 shot to death on Monroe Avenue in Kansas City

KANSAS CITY, Mo. — One man was shot to death Wednesday afternoon in Kansas City, Missouri, police said.

The shooting occurred shortly after 5 p.m. in the 6600 block of Monroe Avenue.

Officers located the victim upon arrival and, despite providing "life-saving measures," he was pronounced dead, according to a KCPD spokesperson.

On Friday, police identified the victim as Daveion Hill, 24.

The death marks the 165th homicide in Kansas City in 2020, an historically violent year in the city.

At this time last year, 137 people had been killed in KCMO.

Police still are looking for witnesses.

A $25,000 reward is available for information that leads to an arrest. Those with tips can call 816-474-TIPS.
