KCPD investigate overnight homicide

KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Kansas City, Missouri, police were called to a homicide early Sunday.

Police received a call of an assault in progress at East 40th Street and Jackson Avenue at 1:20 a.m. Officers found a man, identified as 57-year-old Lewis Davis, dead in the street.

Police said his death was the result of an attempted robbery.

Witnesses said a man was stopped inside a vehicle when one or more people confronted him, stabbing him.

Police haven't released any suspect information.
