KCPD investigates homicides near 13th, Olive streets

ORIGINAL STORY, Oct. 3 | Police are investigating a homicide that occurred Saturday morning in Kansas City, Missouri.

KCPD officers were called to a residence around 11 a.m. near East 13th and Olive streets, where a female victim was found “bleeding profusely,” police said.

Officers rendered first aid and called for an ambulance, but the victim died at the scene.

A person of interest was taken into custody at the scene as well.

KCPD detectives are interviewing possible witnesses and ask anyone with information to call the Greater Kansa City Crime Stoppers Tips Hotline at 816-474-TIPS (8477).

There have now been 147 homicides in KCMO in 2020, according to KCPD data.

That is more homicides than all of 2018 (138) or 2016 (131) and only six shy of the annual record set in 1993, when KCPD recorded 153 homicides.

There were 150 homicides in 2019 and 151 in 2017 in KCMO.
