KANSAS CITY, Mo. – KCPD detectives are investigating the fourth homicide in less than 30 hours.

The shooting happened just before 6 p.m. Thursday night on 69th Terrace between Brooklyn and Olive.

A man and a woman were injured and taken to a nearby hospital, where the man later died.

According to police, the victims were “ambushed.”

“We have very limited information as to who the suspect is,” Kansas City Police Spokeswoman Kari Thompson said. “This area was heavily populated at the time and we do have people in our city that know what happened tonight.”

Neighbors told 41 Action News they heard ten to 15 shots.

“It was boom, boom, boom, boom, boom. I told my son to get in the house, get off the porch and get in the house,” Gregshima, who lives around the corner said.

Thursday night’s homicide marks the 121st homicide of the year.

Police are asking anyone with information to call the tips hotline at 816-474-TIPS.
