KANSAS CITY, Mo. — A man is facing charges for allegedly stealing marijuana off of the body of a homicide victim.
Brandon J. Kumm, 21, is charged with misdemeanor tampering with physical evidence.
According to court documents, Kumm allegedly took the drugs off of a man who was killed at a BP Gas Station near 30th and Van Brunt on Oct. 2. Surveillance video allegedly caught him in the act.
In a strongly-word statement, Jackson County Prosecutor Jean Peters Baker called for citizens to show greater compassion at crime scenes.
Baker also said that a photo was taken of the victim's body and immediately posted to social media after the crime. She said that was how the victim's family found out he died.
Baker warned that any photo taken of a crime scene is evidence and will be sought out by police.
