KANSAS CITY, Mo. — A man is in jail after Kansas City police say he fled from them Friday night, running over himself in the process.

According to court documents, KCPD officers pulled over 26-year-old Taihrou Barry at Westport Road and Main Street for driving across the center line.

Barry stopped and briefly spoke with the officers before speeding off through Westport, going faster than 50 miles per hour, police said.

Police said he lost control and hit a parked car before diving out of his vehicle while it was still rolling down the street. The vehicle ran over Barry’s leg.

Barry was charged with resisting arrest, a felony, and operating a vehicle in a careless or imprudent manner involving an accident, a misdemeanor.

Impairment is suspected in the incident, according to court documents, and police sent Barry’s blood to a hospital for testing.
