KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Kansas City Police are investigating a second homicide within a few blocks about 24-hours apart.

Police found a man — identified Friday as 38-year-old Marvin A. Lorthridge — in the street near East 6th Street and Monroe Avenue shortly after 11 p.m. Wednesday night. He was taken to the hospital, where he died.

Two men were found dead near Elmwood and Independence Avenue late Tuesday night. Police don't believe the two cases are related, but said they hope to find witnesses because the crimes took place in such a busy area.

Police have not released any suspect information in either case.

Anyone with information about the homicide is asked to call the Greater Kansas City Crime Stoppers Tips Hotline at 816-474-TIPS (8477).
