A Gladstone man who asked his girlfriend to shoot a police officer during an altercation with authorities is now in custody.

According to officials, Aaron Barker has been charged with assaulting a police officer and resisting arrest.

Police say a law enforcement officer saw Barker driving by and noticed he was wanted on a warrant, so the officer followed him to his home.

Barker tried to keep the officer out of his residence, but the officer pushed his way inside and followed the male subject to the backyard.

Authorities say an altercation ensued and the officer lost his gun. The officer pinned Barker and the suspect then asked his girlfriend to help him by 'shooting the officer'.

Barker was eventually taken into custody. Officials say the girlfriend was taking a video the whole time during the altercation.
