KANSAS CITY, Mo. — A national police advocacy organization that represents officers it believes have been wrongfully charged with crimes said Wednesday it will help pay the legal fees of a Kansas City, Missouri, police detective charged in connection to the 2019 shooting death of Cameron Lamb.

KCPD Det. Eric DeValkenaere was charged in June with involuntary manslaughter and armed criminal action associated with Lamb’s December 2019 death.

On Wednesday, the Law Enforcement Legal Defense Fund said it would support the defense of DeValkenare, 41.
