A mother is charged with the death of her 8-month-old son.

The Saline County prosecutor has charged 26-year-old Lara Lynn Browder with abuse or neglect of a child-resulting in death.

On Sept. 18, Marshall police responded to the 700 block of North English Street where they found a child that wasn't breathing, according to the probable cause statement filed in the case.

An autopsy indicated the child died from blunt force trauma to the head, which resulted in two large skull fractures.

Court documents say that the child was in his mother's care ten minutes before she discovered him unresponsive in a crib.

Police said Browder did not admit to causing the injuries but "couldn't provide any plausible explanation when she was the person caring for him."

Browder is being held on $500,000 cash-only bond.
