Court documents state Ali was stopped in a line of cars behind the school on Dec. 21, 2015, at East 84 Terrace and Hillcrest Road in Kansas City. The bus driver activated the stop sign and lights on the bus.

A father was waiting for his son to get off the bus at a nearby apartment complex parking lot, court documents state. He saw the car hit his son, the impact throwing the child into nearby bushes. The man yelled at Ali, but she sped off, court documents state. The father took his son to the hospital.

A witness followed Ali’s white Chevrolet Malibu and wrote down the car’s license plate number.

The father of the injured boy picked Ali from a photo lineup, according to court documents.
