KCPD: Woman was shot at, crashed into house along Askew Avenue

KANSAS CITY, Mo. — A woman was shot with a child in her vehicle was shot at near East 58th Street and Swope Parkway on Friday afternoon in Kansas City, Missouri.

While fleeing from the scene where shots were fired, the woman crashed her vehicle into a house around 5:40 p.m. in the 5800 block of Askew Avenue.

According to police, neither the woman nor the child were struck by the gunfire, contrary to initial information provided by KCPD.

A police spokesman clarified Friday night that the female driver suffered minor injuries from the crash. The juvenile suffered "more serious but noy life-threatening injuries."

Damage to the residence was minor and the woman and child "are stable" after receiving "minor medical treatmeant: at a local hospital, according to KCPD.
