UPDATE | On Friday afternoon, Carol Loving, 42, was formally charged with three counts in Wyandotte County District Court.

She was charged with aggravated endangering of a child, eluding a police officer and theft. She is being held on a $35,000 bond.

There is no court date set for Loving yet.

ORIGINAL STORY | The suspect in a kidnapping and high-speed police chase from Kansas City, Kansas, is being held in the Wyandotte County Jail awaiting formal charges, KCK police said Friday.

A 42-year-old LaCygne, Kansas, woman faces possible charges of felony theft, kidnapping in the commission of a crime, and fleeing and attempting to elude law enforcement for the events that unfolded Thursday.

Police said a 2-year-old boy’s father called 911 after the suspect allegedly jumped in his car and drove away with the child still inside.

The suspect led authorities on a southward chase for nearly 30 minutes, exceeding speeds of 100 mph.

The chase ended in Miami County when authorities deployed stop sticks.

The woman was taken into custody, and the boy was reunited safely with his family.
