The trial for two of three suspects who are accused of trying to kill a Wyandotte County Sheriff's deputy begins Monday.

Dyron King, 25, and Cecil D. Meggerson, 36, have been charged with attempted capital murder of a law enforcement officer.

They are accused of shooting Wyandotte County Sheriff's Deputy Scott Wood.

Wood, who was off-duty when he was shot on March 4, 2015, walked into the 7-Eleven near 44th Street and Shawnee Drive. He was shot multiple times and was initially listed in critical condition.

He spent about two weeks in the hospital. He has not returned to work yet, according to the Wyandotte County Sheriff's Office.

King and Meggerson also face charges of aggravated robbery, conspiracy to commit aggravated robbery, battery and possession of a firearm.

A third suspect, 19-year-old Charles Bowser, faces the same charges.

Bowser's trial has been delayed after he fired his attorney.
