KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Two men are fighting for their lives after they were severely assaulted and left overnight near Fremont Avenue and 38th Street, according to Kansas City police.

Few details have been released about the two men. A business owner called 911 after he found them in the area Wednesday morning when he came to work, police said.

Both men have life-threatening injuries.

Authorities are trying to determine where the two men were assaulted, because it was not in the location where they were found, a police spokesman said.

"They are canvassing to try and find any witnesses or any video evidence or anything that might help them determine any better about what occurred and the timeline of how it occurred," Sgt. Jake Becchina said.

Kansas City police ask anyone who might have information to call the TIPS hotline at 816-474-8477.
