Police are looking for the vandals who damaged almost two dozens vehicles near I-29 and 64th Street.
As many slept on North London Drive, vandals were up to no good early Sunday.
“Seems like they’re just tearing things up,” Bob Kerr, one of the victims, told 41 Action News.
A neighbor knocked on Kerr’s door at 2:30 in the morning to let him know his car was broken into.
“It’s a convertible, and it looks like they pulled the window back; there were some fingerprints on the window,” Kerr said.
He wasn’t the only one targeted. Police said four men also slashed the tires of at least half a dozen cars on N. London Drive.
The vandals then decided to get violent.
On NW 79th Terrace, a man pulled into his garage just before 3 a.m., walked into his house, and then stepped back out to his garage only to find four men rifling through it.
He chased after them, but during that chase police said one of the suspects pulled out a gun and told him to stop. No one was hurt.
The four men allegedly went on to vandalize and ransack more cars in the Coves neighborhood. In total, 21 vehicles were damaged overnight Sunday.
“It’s pretty distributing. If you can't feel safe in your own home where can you feel safe,” Don Cecil, another victim, said.
Kerr said his car alarm went off Sunday night.
“You think that after a night where police were out looking for them they’d at least take a night off but they don’t seem to be afraid,” Kerr said.
Besides fingerprints, security cameras in the neighborhood may help police with their investigation.
“Their luck is probably going to run out in this neighborhood; I’m sure that there’s a lot of people watching out,” Kerr said.
Police said if you notice anything unusual call them immediately. If you know anything about this case, call police or the KC Crimestoppers at 816-474-8477 (TIPS).
