A struggle between a robber and cell phone store employee ended with the employee's murder.

Police at the scene told 41 Action News the violence happened inside a Boost Mobile Store at 6823 Longview Road in South Kansas City.

The store owner told our reporter he wasn't at the store when the crime happened, but spoke with an employee who was in the store.

A man wearing a hoodie and armed with a black handgun came in and demanded money.

The clerk followed store policy and opened the cash register, according to the store owner.

A second employee, who had just gotten off work, saw what was happening in the store and went to help his fellow worker.

The two men struggled over the gun before the suspect shot the employee twice in the chest.

The employee died a short time later.

Police are still looking for the shooter.

This was the 110th homicide of the year in Kansas City, Missouri. There were 86 homicides in KCMO at this time last year.
