Being a couch potato could actually shrink your brain, according to a new study led by researchers at Boston University.
They studied 1,500 middle-aged adults and found those who scored lower on treadmill fitness tests had smaller brain size 20 years later. Researchers say smaller brain size is associated with a higher risk of dementia and Alzheimer's disease.
Boston University adds that this study is observational and does not prove poor physical fitness causes a loss of brain volume. This study is published in 'Neurology.'
