The photo of Sammy Griner was taken by his mom, Laney Grineron August, 26, 2007. Sammy was just 11 months old at the time.
The little toddler is now 9 years old and is using his internet fame to get his dad a new kidney. The family was able to sell thousands of products with the meme to raise money for the surgery.
“It’s a game changer to see my dad alive and his kidneys back to normal. He’s doing great and stuff,” said Sammy Griner, “success kid.”
But the family says he always was their own “successful kid.”
