KANSAS CITY, Mo. — The Veterans United Foundation has pledged $1 million to buy much-needed supplies for front-line workers amid the COVID-19 crisis.

The nonprofit — which has corporate offices in Lenexa, Columbia, St. Louis and Irving, Texas — also said some money will be used for emergency relief for organizations and individuals impacted by the pandemic.

“We've already started,” Chief People Officer at Veterans United Home Loans Dr. Amanda Andrade said. “So, even in the Kansas City area, there was Battle Within, a telemed therapy session that just came up for first responders and veterans that are actually quarantined. We gave $5,000 just to kind of kick start that and help out there.”

We've created a Facebook group, We're Open Kansas City, where members of the community can post businesses serving their community.
