KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Worlds of Fun reopens Monday, June 22 at 11 a.m. exclusively for season passholders.

Regular ticket sales for the general public will begin in early July.

Worlds of Fun leaders state there are a number of new plans and updated procedures in place to help reduce the spread of germs.

"I'm very confident of the procedures that we have in place," Worlds of Fun spokesperson, Chris Foshee said. "We're open based off the CDC recommendations as well as health industry experts. You know we're ready to open, it's something we care deeply about, we're ready to do it right."

Reservations must be made online ahead of time and a pre-entry health assessment will need to be completed as well.

Both staff and guests are required to wear masks, however, there are places throughout the park called "Relax Zones" where guests are allowed to remove them.

Not all rides will be open because some are not conducive to social distancing.

However, for the ones open and available, guests can expect a little more space when getting on the rides.

"We have social distancing reminders throughout the park, as well as reminders in the lines," Foshee said. "It'll almost work like a board game, you'll have your square and when the rides are ready to dispatch, you'll move up. We'll do every other row or just as it's needed just to maintain proper distancing."

The number of guests in the park will also be limited.

"The city has recommended that we stay under 50 percent," Foshee said. "We're going to be way under that just to make sure we're maintaining social distancing throughout the park and we're allowing a safe and enjoyable time for our guests."

Foshee said rides will be cleaned through the hour and where needed, which includes seats, restraints, headrests and armrests.

Dining and shops will be open, with social distance markings implemented. However, indoor gaming and entertainment will be closed for the time being.

No date is set yet for Oceans of Fun reopening.
