KANSAS CITY, Mo. — One person is dead following a single-vehicle crash Tuesday in Independence.
Police responded around 5:48 p.m. to the area of East R.D. Mize Road and Maybrook Avenue after a Chevrolet pickup truck traveling eastbound left the roadway, went through a yard and privacy fence, ultimately hitting a tree.
The driver, who has not yet been identified, was transported from the scene and died at a local hospital.
There was only one occupant in the vehicle, and police said the driver might have "experienced a medical crisis."
The crash still is under investigation.
