16-year-old arrested in Lee's Summit skating rink shooting

KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Lee's Summit, Missouri, police said they arrested a 16-year-old in connection to a shooting at Landmark Skate Center that happened last week.

The suspect, who is from Kansas City, Missouri, was charged with first-degree assault and armed criminal action, a spokeswoman for Jackson County Circuit Court said. He is being held in the Juvenile Detention Center.

Because of the suspect's age, police are not releasing his name or photo.

Police said the 14-year-old victim is improving and doing well.

The shooting happened during a fight in the skating rink's parking lot.
