KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Two teenage boys were killed in a single-vehicle crash Sunday evening in Caldwell County, officials said.

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, a 2017 Chevrolet Cruze, driven by an 18-year-old male, was traveling eastbound on Southwest Price Drive about 1.5 miles south of Polo when the vehicle skidded on the gravel road and went off the roadway.

The vehicle struck a ditch and became airborne, traveling through a fence and overturning twice.

The two 14-year-old boys, who were passengers in the vehicle, were pronounced dead at the scene shortly before 8 p.m.

The driver of the vehicle and two other passengers, ages 14 and 20, suffered injuries in the crash and were transported to area hospitals.

No one in the vehicle was wearing a seat belt, according to the highway patrol.
