2 wolf hybrids remain loose in Platte County, sheriff says

The Platte County Sheriff's Office said Friday that thetwo remaining missing animals thought to be wolf hybrids are really dogs.

The Missouri Department of Conservation investigated and found the last two missing animals were just black dogs.

The Platte County Sheriff's Department announced Thursday that four were loose in the area of Missouri 92 and Hornback Road near Smithville.

A total of six wolf hybrids escaped from a property in the area, according to the sheriff's department news release.

One was shot after attacking two goats.

The other returned home, according to the sheriff's department.

Two more were caught after the initial announcement, Platte County authorities announced shortly before 6 p.m.

Several law enforcement agencies and the Missouri Department of Conservation are trying to find the remaining wolf hybrids on the loose.

The agencies caution people not to approach the animals. Call 911 or your local law enforcement agency if you see them.
