KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Two adults and three children have been displaced, and two dogs are dead, following a fire on Sunday at a Johnson County home.

Fire crews responded just after 9:15 a.m. to the 100 block of West Martin Street in Edgerton and extinguished the blaze “shortly after arriving on scene,” according to a new release.

Two adults in the residence were uninjured.

Fire crews credited working smoke alarms for allowing the residents to escape the home safely, according to the release.

American Red Cross is assisting the family.
