The Kansas City, Missouri Police Department are looking for answers after a five-tear-old girl was shot in a drive-by shooting at a house near 35th and Norton Avenue.

Frank Johnson had just finished working on a car in his driveway on Saturday night when he heard a familiar sound.

It was the sound of gunfire.

"I heard rapid gunfire," he said.

Johnson said he heard screams coming from his front deck. He ran upstairs and found a relative's young daughter with a gunshot wound in the arm.

"I think it's probably just random," said Johnson. "I don't know why anyone would shot at this house."

The child was shot during an alleged adult domestic violence situation, officials said.

The girl's mother did not want to talk to 41 Action News, but Johnson says the girl is expected to recover.

Kansas City police are still looking for the shooter.  Anyone with information is asked to call the TIPS Hotline.
