KANSAS CITY, Mo. — As council members prepare to vote on a KCI proposal from Edgemoor, AECOM announced it considered teaming up with Burns & McDonnell to win the contentious airport contract.

"For the good of the City and the Project — and to put the last several months behind us — KCI Partnership considered adding the 'Hometown Team' led by Burns & Mac- to potentially bolster public support for the Project that we all want to see happen," the AECOM team wrote in a statement.

"As evidenced by the numeric scorecard ranking of KCI Partnership as the #1 team across the board, our gesture to BM was about building community spirit and unifying the City," the statement goes on to say.

The scorecard AECOM is referring to was leaked on Wednesday. Council members Jolie Justus and Jermaine Reed said the rankings, which show AECOM in the first place position, were put together by the committee's advisors on the day of interviews. Both emphasized there was no scorecard for the final decision.

As members prepare to vote on Thursday, Burns & McDonnell is refuting reports of a partnership with AECOM.

"While we understand that others would want to be on our team, as we've stated many times, we believe this project should be done by hometown firms. We stand committed to our HOMETOWN team," Burns & McDonnell Vice President Mike Brown wrote in a statement to 41 Action News.
