KANSAS CITY, Mo. – When it comes to lawn care services, if you’re tired of weeding out who’s the best, there’s an app that’s helping cut down on the hassle.
"I want to provide a service that's cheap and affordable for the average person,” said Rebecca Brewster of Punky Brewster’s Landscaping Company.
Punky Brewster’s Landscaping Company has been a family-owned business working in the Kansas City metro area for three years.
Brewster said just recently business started booming.
"Our business has probably tripled just in the past couple of weeks alone,” said Brewster.
Brewster credits GreenPal. It’s an app that recently launched in Kansas City, connecting homeowners with local, vetted lawn care professionals.
"They can look up info on us, see the reviews that we've gotten on the website, and choose whether they'd like to use our services or choose another company’s,” said Brewster.
The app is being called the “Uber for Lawn Care.”
Here’s how it works
Customers get three bids after typing in their specific needs. Then, they can check out the reviews of those three companies and pick which one they want to hire.
Companies can upload before and after pictures and then the homeowner can pay for the completed service online.
Since its launch, homeowners have hired Punky Brewster’s Landscaping Company 92 times on GreenPal.
Currently, there are 25 lawn care professionals in the metro area who are registered with GreenPal.
Brewster said she receives anywhere from 10 to 50 notifications for service every day.
"They still give customers the options of more than one company, but at the same time it doesn't overwhelm them,” said Brewster.
Brewster said it’s a simple process and without GreenPal, her business would not be where it is now.
"I think I'd still be struggling to find yards every day,” said Brewster.
The GreenPal app can be downloaded for free on any Android or iPhone.
