Be prepared for snow to affect your Friday morning commute

KANSAS CITY, Mo. — The Friday morning commute has proved to be problematic for drivers.

Another round of heavy snow has started in the Kansas City area. Accumulation overnight could leave treacherous road conditions in the morning.

Overland Park expected at least of inch of accumulation on its streets overnight and possibly into Friday evening.

The overworked day shift snow-plow crew was sent home at noon on Thursday and reported back to work at 10 p.m. to begin treating streets and undertaking snow operations, according to a release from the city.

Kansas City, Missouri, also was planning ahead for anticipated deteriorating road conditions.

"Around-the-clock arterial coverage is scheduled for Thursday into Friday morning," the city's website said. "Residential crews will deploy Thursday to run through neighborhood routes and address slickness on hills, curves and intersections.

RideKC announced that it's Freedom paratransit will operate Friday morning in "Phase A of the Inclement Weather Plan, with 30 to 60 minutes delays possible," according to its Twitter account.
