KANSAS CITY, Mo. — A 20-year-old man from Belton, Missouri, is dead after a single-car crash Sunday in Cass County.
The crash happened around 11:15 a.m. on Interstate 49 southbound at 307th Street.
The Missouri State Highway Patrol said Ardell Hooker was a passenger in a 2006 Hyundai when, traveling at an excessive speed, it left the road and struck an embankment.
Hooker had not been wearing a seatbelt, according to the MSHP report.
The driver, a 19-year-old man also from Belton, was not wearing a seatbelt either and suffered serious injuries.
