BLUE SPRINGS, Mo. — Blue Springs police are looking for three suspects who were involved in burglarizing Kennedy's Custom Jewelers on Monday morning.
Surveillance video from Kennedy’s Custom Jewelers captured a car back into the family owned business before breaking the two service doors. Video from inside shows the men smashing seven jewelry cases and putting handfuls of items into a bag.
Within minutes, they were gone.
“You look at (the video) and you can’t understand why you or somebody would do that,” said James Kennedy, whose family owns the jewelry store.
Kennedy estimated that the burglary cost the business about $20,000. Like other stores, the jewelry shop was forced to close its doors for nearly two months due to the coronavirus pandemic.
“We’re still going to be here and we’re going to open up and we’re going to do everything we can just like we have for the local community,” Kennedy said.
The store was closed Monday but will reopen on Tuesday. Anyone with information about the burglary is asked to contact the Blue Springs Police Department by calling 816-228-0151 and referencing the Kennedy Jeweler's burglary.
Police released three photos Tuesday, including one of the suspect vehicle. It is a silver Hyundai Elantra sedan.
Blue Springs police are looking for three suspects, one white male and a black male who entered the store, and a third suspect who remained in the vehicle.
