KANSAS CITY, Mo. — The National Weather Service has issued a freeze warning for the Kansas City area.
The warning is in effect from 11 p.m. Friday to 10 a.m. Saturday.
NWS said it expects sub-freezing temperatures as low as 25 degrees in some areas.
The freeze will result in frost and will kill crops and other “sensitive vegetation.” Unprotected outdoor plumbing may also be prone to damage.
Pipes should be wrapped, drained or turned to a drip to avoid bursting, NWS said, and tender plants protected beforehand.
In addition to the widespread freeze, the 41 Action News meteorologists are monitoring a storm that could bring snow to the area Sunday and Monday.
