RAYTOWN, Mo. — A burst water pipe forced a 10-story senior living complex in Raytown to evacuate Monday in sub-0 temperatures.

A 4-inch water line in the basement at Temple Heights Manor near East 55th Street and Blue Ridge Cutoff, allowing more than 5 feet of water to flood into the basement.

The campus straddles the Raytown and Kansas City, Missouri, municipal border.

The water damage occurred in the building in Raytown, but the building in KCMO was unaffected.

It has been pumped out, but the building is now being inspected for electrical issues. Crews are also trying to get a portable boiler into the building.

At least 57 residents were evacuated to Graceway Church, which is located on the same campus as the residential facility.

The Salvation Army and other community organizations will have to arrange for temporary accommodations for the displaced residents.
