KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- A Kansas City father is warning parents and drivers after his home security camera captured a truck speeding around his child's school bus.

The incident happened around 3:45 p.m. Wednesday afternoon at the corner of NE 46th Terrace and Hardest.

"I was pretty shocked when I saw what actually happened," said Cody Kocyon, whose 9-year-old son was on the bus.

Kocyon's surveillance video shows a truck following the school bus. When the bus comes to a stop, the truck does too. However, the car immediately backs up and speeds around the bus, cutting through the neighbor's yard.

At the time, there were at least two boys from Maplewood Elementary getting off the bus. No one was hurt.

"If [my son] would have got off the bus a few seconds earlier or if [the truck] had been over there a little bit closer, we would be talking about a different story," said Kocyon.

The North Kansas City School District is aware and investigating the incident.

In a statement to 41 Action News the district said they are reviewing the incident.

"North Kansas City Schools takes any incident involving our school buses very seriously. We are grateful all of the students are safe. We are working with law enforcement to investigate this matter and take the proper action. NKC Schools is committed to ensuring the utmost safety when transporting students."

A similar incident was caught on camera in St. Louis last week.
