KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Charlie Hoopers' Bar and Grille announced that they plan to reopen on Friday at 11 a.m.

The restaurant has been closed since June 16 when a kitchen fire broke out and caused damage to the building. Patrons were evacuated during the fire, but no one was injured.

“We were lucky that the fire was extinguished quickly and that no one was injured" co-owner Chris Lewellen said in a statement about the opening. “Based on the amount of damage, we originally thought we’d be able to reopen in just a few weeks, but red tape with the insurance companies caused many delays."

There will be daily specials, prizes and a new grille menu to celebrate the reopening of the Brookside restaurant.
