Vehicle rams into KCMO police car, crashes into 2 other vehicles

KANSAS CITY, Mo. — The driver of a car rammed into a Kansas City, Missouri, police car and hit two other vehicles trying to flee from police on Monday.

Police said the incident began when officers tried to conduct a car check on a vehicle near east 34th Street and Indiana Avenue.

The driver of the car backed into the patrol car and sped off.

Officers quickly decided not to chase the fleeing vehicle as it sped off northbound on Indiana Avenue.

The car ran a red light at east 31st Street and Indiana Avenue and slammed into a pickup truck headed east on 31st Street.

A third crash sent the fleeing car and another vehicle into a building near the area.

Police arrested the driver.

The woman in the vehicle that hit the building was taken to a hospital and was in stable condition Wednesday night.

One other person suffered non life-threatening injuries.
