There were terrifying moments at a McDonald's early Tuesday morning.

Customers were inside the fast food restaurant at 152 Highway and Church Road during an armed robbery.

The store opened just before 11 a.m. but was closed for hours before. Signs on the door said it was closed for maintenance.

The robbery happened around 3 a.m. Customers were inside when three men entered with their faces covered. One of them had a gun. They ordered customers to the ground and then took off toward Walmart.

"I probably won't come to this location for a month or two or something with everything that happened," said Chris Pegues, who came up to the door to get food.

The manager told 41 Action News she had no comment about why the store was closed.

Lisa Essig from the McDonald's franchise commented on the incident saying, "Nothing is more important to me than the safety and security of my employees and customers. Thankfully, no one was hurt this morning. We are cooperating fully with police on their investigation."

The gas station across the street said it had been robbed as well.
